Affordable Care Act 101

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Affordable Care Act or ACA) enacted comprehensive health insurance reforms designed to ensure Americans have access to quality, affordable health insurance.

Learn what the law means for small businesses and have your questions answered.  Our presenter is Lisa Scimeca, Senior Technical Advisor for Health in the Philadelphia Regional Office of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration.

We will review the Health Insurance Marketplace, where you can apply and enroll in health coverage at HealthCare.gov. Mr. Ted Trevorrow from Resources for Human Development, the ACA Navigator firm for this area, will also be present.  Mr. Trevorrow can sign up individuals and small businesses in the Marketplace plans on the spot.

Those who want individual coverage in the Marketplace, including self-employed small business owners, have to enroll by March 31. This workshop benefit both small business owners who do not need to cover employees but do not yet have coverage for themselves, and business owners who want to choose a group plan for their business.
