In 2003 The Delaware County Daily Times awarded Phatso's Bakery, in the City of Chester, the Reader’s
Choice Award of “Best Doughnuts” in Delaware County. Phatsos now has one store in the City of Chester and several
wholesale accounts; in addition, Phatso's now makes dozens of donuts every week for Philadelphia businesses.
Mr. Wilcox purchased the business and the recipe for the donuts a few years ago. A team of students from Wharton’s
Management 100 course under the guidance of the Wharton SBDC and in collaboration with the Philadelphia Development Partnership’s Chester Microenterprise Center worked with Mr. Wilcox during Spring 2004 to gather market research to enable Phatsos to attract new wholesale customers.
